Romania Team

With only two days left until the Romania Team goes global, this is a good time to meet the players!

Amy Erickson

Buna! (Hello!) My name is Amy, and I am half of the California portion of the team travelling to Romania with HUMC. I
am so excited to come alongside this incredible team and serve the least of these with them in Romania. God first called me to Romania in 2002 when I was only sixteen years old. I left a part of my heart in the country that year and have had to return over and over since then. More recently, I feel like God has called me to help prepare and lead teams traveling to Romania.
Back home, I am an 8th grade English teacher. Most people call me crazy when they learn that I teach junior high, but I absolutely love it! Junior high kids are certainly a different breed of human, but I love diving into their little, complex worlds and trying to help them figure out how to navigate this thing we call life.
I love to travel, be as high up in the sky as possible, and experience new things. I love meeting new people and hearing their stories, yet I really am an introvert--I need my alone time to recharge (a social introvert I believe they call it--whoever "they" are!).
I like long walks in the evenings, good, deep conversations, sushi, and random adventures (oh wait...this is a ministry bio, huh?                                                                   Ooops!). I love Jesus. :)

Schelly Thompson
My name is Schelly Thompson and I am so excited to be a part of the HUMC mission team going to Romania! I live in Bakersfield, CA, and am incredibly blessed that God called me to be a part of the leadership of this wonderful team. I have been on two previous Children to Love trips to Romania and am thrilled to be able to return. This trip is special because I am able to travel there with my daughter, Amy Erickson.
I recently retired from a thirty-three year teaching career. The majority of those years have been spent with kindergarten children. Although, I won’t be in the classroom any longer, my heart and passion is for children – both in the United States and Romania.
I love to lose myself in books. I’ve been known to sacrifice sleep in order to finish a good book! I enjoy traveling and am fortunate to be able to go to Israel with friends from my church in October.
A ‘perfect’ day for me would consist of coffee, donuts, potato chips, books, and a jigsaw puzzle with a beautiful view of the ocean. Maybe I’ll just try that in my retirement!

Kim Musser
My name is Kim Musser and I am so humbled to be a part of this amazing mission to Romania. I am an interior designer and really believe that altering environments for the better can have a huge impact on someone's life. God took joy in creating a place for us, and I believe a part of my calling is to be the hands and feet of my Lord in creating places for the least of these that reflect the Lord's heart towards them. My heart feels drawn and called to orphaned children and to creating for them such places of refuge. Needless to say, I am thanking God continually for His goodness in choosing me to be a part of this amazing team in the midst of such a beautiful and supportive body of believers.
I currently own and operate my design consulting business, and over the years have been using a portion of the proceeds from each project to raise funds for this type of work. I am also blessed to be the wife of Dustin Musser who is the executive director at Camp Hebron. We have two boys ages 4 and 3 who inspire and teach us daily.
I have a secret history of singing opera, hand modeling, and so many other random oddities you'd probably think I was making them all up. I'm just so thankful that God has made me both fearfully and wonderfully and that even when I think there is nothing usable in me, He shows me I am far from wrong. What a mighty God we serve!?

Dana Reed
My name is Dana and I am privileged to be a part of the team travelling to Romania. I have worked with mission’s partnerships at my previous church, and am so happy to be able to help form a partnership with Children to Love and their orphanages in Romania. I am so excited
to meet the children in Romania because I have a heart for children and my passion is to share God's love and show children that there is HOPE and FREEDOM in the Lord! I hope that God can use me in that way while in Romania. That is why I feel called to this mission!
I have been married to the love of my life, Rich for almost 18 years. Together we have five children ages 16, 15, 13, 9 and 4. My oldest two children, Austin and Cheyenne will be a part of the mission’s trips this summer. I am very proud of them hearing God’s call to serve. I work part-time in the program department at Camp Hebron. I love being a part of Christian camping ministry. It is my heart and passion to also show children the love of God through creation.
I studied visual arts for many years back in Pittsburgh. I love to do anything involving art! I love photography, crafts and anything I can make with my hands. Paint and glitter are my favorites!
I also love superheroes, Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, and any other kind of geeky lore! I guess you can see why I am well suited to work in children's ministry!

Sara Troutman
Hi everyone! My name is Sara and I am honored to be a part of the team travelling to Romania. I was baptized in the HUMC last May & if you would have told me a year ago that I would be traveling to Romania on a mission trip I would have never believed it, it still feels so surreal!! I'm so excited to see where God is leading me on this amazing spiritual journey.
I'm so excited about our Partnership with Children To Love and to see how God's plan unfolds for our team. I can't wait to meet the children of Romania and to experience the unexpected.
I'm a photographer and I own a small studio in Lykens. I love working with people and capturing memories for them that will last a lifetime!

Working out is one of my favorite things to do. I love practicing yoga, doing zumba and I'm also part of a bootcamp group. I love to travel and spend time with my friends & family. I have an extreme phobia of birds. I know, weird right? I really love snickers & taking pictures. I can't wait to share my pictures from Romania with all of you!

Jamie Popp
My name is Jamie Popp and I am so excited to be traveling to Romania with this amazing team. When I heard that there was an orphanage in Romania for disabled children I immediately felt as though God was calling me to cross the ocean and partner with the Children To Love organization. There is a special place in my heart for children with disabilities as I am a Special Education teacher and work specifically with children with Autism. Some call me crazy, but I love working with these children and teaching them how to interact and communicate with this big, amazing, wonderful world that they live in. I can’t wait to see how God molds me into the servant that he wants me to be while I am in Romania.
I am the mother of three beautiful children, Hailey (7), Lucas (6), and Coleman (19 mo.). My husband Wesley and I are astounded daily at their ability to teach us how to love and inspire us to be better followers of Christ.
I am a Girl Scout leader for my daughter’s troop and an avid cheerleader for the kids’ soccer and softball teams. I love getting caught up in a good book, especially while soaking up the sun at the beach and my favorite vacation spot is anywhere in the woods with the camper and my family.

Cheyenne Reed
Buna! My name is Cheyenne Reed, I am 15 years old and I am a part of the team travelling to Romania. I am so excited about our Partnership with Children To Love because I’ll be able to see all of the different children there. I am especially excited to work with the disabled because those kids are my type of people! I feel like God has called me to be a part of this team because of everything that has happened in my life. I have been able to see different types of poverty and it had really struck out to me.
I live at Camp Hebron and I work in the kitchen as a kitchen assistant. I am homeschooled and I have four other siblings. I have a 16 year old brother, Austin who is going on the India trip at the end of June. I have a sister Maddy, who is 13. Savannah who is 9. And Willow who is the youngest and is 4.
What some people don’t know which, I find interesting, is that I was born on February 29th. It means that I was born on leap day! So I am actually 3 years old! I also play the guitar and sing. I also really like to serve with disabled children. My heart goes out to them the most.
I really like Lord of the Rings trilogy. I also really like frogs. They’re my favorite type of animal. And The Walking Dead is one of my favorite TV shows, The Following is too! I really like crime investigation movies/books/shows. What I am mostly scared of is thunder and lightning and spiders.
